Secrets to a Stunning ScrapbookThe holidays are filled with photo ops galore. To help you preserve the magical moments, Tutti Bella got the scoop on scrapbooking from Melanie Nerenberg, Director of Marketing, for Kate’s Paperie in New York City. Her seven steps are quick enough to do in under an hour. Perfect for this hectic holiday time!
1. Clear the table! It's easier to work in a clean open space.
2. Choose your photos carefully. Showing your best images is a MUST. Page after page of so-so images will make a lot of work for very little impact.
3. Work in chronological order, organizing the photos by subject or event. This is easy to do, saves time, and tells a story!
4. Keep the photos the same size on a page. That way the focus will be on the images and not the photo sizes.
5. Attach your pictures to the pages with a glue that is formulated for photo albums. The glue will be acid free and archival and will protect your treasured photos for years. Glue dots and pre-glued corners also make it very easy to assemble your album quickly. All can be found at art supply shops and stores that sell high quality photo albums.
6. Use titles. These can be printed on a computer on interesting paper and pasted into the scrapbook to tell your story. To give the book a unified look it’s best to use the same typeface throughout. You can make a statement by using the same font in regular, bold, or italic.
7. Make several books at once. Members of your family can receive the same set of photos with a personalized cover for each person. You cannot come up with a better gift for grandparents!
